Siempre mira el lado brillante de la vida
Quizá Eric Idle no parezca la referencia más adecuada para un editorial de un libro sobre diseño, pero el texto que tienes en tus manos tampoco es muy común. En realidad, sólo es un hiato. Una estación de paso necesaria entre otros dos libros; Articulado y Articulados. Y que ha ido tomando forma hasta convertirse en un ente vivo que tendrá continuidad entre las ediciones de los que, podríamos llamar, sus hermanos mayores.
Hiato es un avance de lo que leeremos en el segundo volumen de Articulado. Un texto que nació con la sola voluntad de poner negro sobre blanco las opiniones y reflexiones más personales de algunos de los principales referentes del diseño internacional. Y cuya acogida lo han convertido en un proyecto editorial bienal.
A nombres de sobra conocidos como Milton Glaser, Erwan Bouroullec o Karim Rashid, se unen ahora los que tienes en tus manos, profesionales cuya opinión –y trabajo- siempre aporta algo diferente. Por eso están aquí. Ellos y otros muchos compartirán las páginas de las próximas ediciones de Articulado.
No busques textos académicos, ni sesudas disertaciones sobre el diseño, porque sólo encontrarás opiniones y pensamientos íntimos que, por primera vez en muchos casos, han acabado plasmados en un papel.
Y es que, en tiempos grises, no hay nada mejor que apostar por escuchar a nuestros instintos y, sí, siempre mirar el lado brillante de la vida.
Gracias a todos los que están, a los que estarán… y a los que quisieron estar.
Always Look on the Bright Side of Life
Eric Idle may not seem the most appropriate reference for the lead article of a book on design, but then again what you have in your hands is not the run of the mill either. As a matter of fact, it’s just a hiatus. A stopgap between two other books, Articulado and Articulados. But it gradually took on a life of its own that will have a recurrent permanence in between the editions of what we might call its elder siblings.
Hiato is a taster for what’s in store in the second volume of Articulado, a publication whose sole purpose is to put in black and white the most personal views and ideas of some of the leading lights of international design, and whose excellent reception has guaranteed its biennial continuity.
Names as well-known as Milton Glaser, Erwan Bouroullec or Karim Rashid are now joined by those included in the book you are now holding, professionals whose opinions—and work—always have something new to say. That is why they are here. They and many others will grace the pages of the upcoming editions of Articulado.
But don’t expect to find academic treatises or intellectual analyses on design, because all you will find are personal views and thoughts which, in many cases, have been printed on paper for the first time.
In such grey times as these, there is nothing better than listening to our instincts and, as they say, looking on the bright side of life.
